The Supreme Court of Nepal has announced it will resume regular hearings, including habeas corpus petitions, starting Sunday (September 14). The decision was made in an emergency full court session, with Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut stating on Thursday.

The Chief Justice expressed condolences to citizens who lost their lives during recent unrest and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He lamented the destruction of court buildings and historic documents but reaffirmed the judiciary’s duty to uphold constitutional rule, sovereignty, and citizens’ rights. He assured that courts will reopen promptly to address the public’s demand for justice.
