Janakpur—The Madesh Province government has declared an additional public holiday on Kartik 11, the fourth and final day of the Chhath festival.

According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home, Communication, and Law, the holiday is granted as devotees offer prayers to the rising sun on this day, marking the conclusion of the festival.
The federal government had earlier declared a nationwide public holiday on Kartik 10 to observe the ritual of offering prayers to the setting sun.
Deputy Secretary Ganesh Nayak stated that, as per the provincial gazette published on Chaitra 22, 2081 BS, an additional public holiday has been granted in Madhes Province for the Chhath festival.
