Kathmandu: Bhuwan Kumar Pathak has been elected the Speaker in the Province Assembly of Bagamati Province.

He, the candidate from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, secured 62 votes in the voting held today to get elected on the post, according to PA senior most Ram Prasad Dhungana.

His competitor Shibaraj Adhikari from the Nepali Congress garnered 36 while Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party (NWPP)’s Sirjana Saiju got 3. A total of 109 members, out of 110, took part in the voting.

ANNFSU to hold 23rd National Convention on February 14-16
The 23rd National Convention of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) has been scheduled to take place in the central capital on February 14-16.

The student union close to the CPN (UML) had hold its 22nd National Convention seven years ago.
Union general secretary Samik Badal confirmed the decision to hold the event on the given time.

Various committees including the main management committee have been constituted to hold the Convention. The national event will elect a 199-member committee including 17 office bearers.
Earlier, a gathering of UML’s people’s organisations held in Dhulikhel of Kavre on January 8-9 decided to hold the Conventions of people’s organisations by mid-April.

Likewise, April 7-8 have been fixed for holding the seventh National Convention of All Nepal Women’s Association. Association secretariat member Sadiksha Chauan said the Association Secretariat meeting held in Kathmandu took a decision to this regard.
