Bihar (India): At the Sonepur Mela in Bihar, police rescued five minor girls, including one from Nepal, after receiving reports of abuse and sexual exploitation.

Officials said two girls were from Uttar Pradesh, one from Madhya Pradesh, one from Chhattisgarh, and one from Nepal. They were forced to perform in temporary theaters at night, suspected of being linked to a human trafficking ring.

SSP Kumar Ashish ordered a raid, and police teams, supported by local NGOs and social workers, searched each theater. The operation led to the rescue of all five minors, and an FIR has been registered.

Investigators are determining whether the girls were brought to the mela by trafficking networks and if there are more victims. Legal action against responsible individuals is ongoing.
