Kathmandu — Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s 12 stitches on his neck are scheduled to be removed four days after he sustained injuries during the Janajee movement on 23–24 Bhadra. During the protest on 24 Bhadra, demonstrators attacked and dragged Deuba and his wife out of their residence in Budhanilkantha, causing damage to the property.
Deuba, who suffered serious neck injuries, is receiving treatment at the Army Hospital. According to his personal secretary Bhanu Deuba, doctors have advised that the stitches can only be removed after four days.
“The doctors said the stitches can only be removed four days after the injury,” Bhanu Deuba said, “After that, the doctors will evaluate the wound to determine when he can be discharged.”

During the attack, Deuba’s wife and Congress Central Committee member Dr. Arju Rana Deuba was also injured. Due to injuries to her face and body, her discharge date has not yet been decided.
During a party performance committee meeting at the central office in Sanepa last Friday, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka briefed party leaders on Deuba’s health, noting the severity of his neck injuries and the need for continued hospital care.
The committee has decided to call a Central Committee meeting once Deuba recovers. Party General Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel stated that it is unlikely the meeting will be held before Dashain.
