Nepal’s Rana Families to Inherit Over One Trillion Rupees from In-Laws

Kathmandu — The long-standing property dispute of the Scindia royal family in Gwalior, India, worth about NPR 640 billion, has finally been settled. A 35-page agreement submitted to the Gwalior district court concluded with the formula: “Whoever occupies the property, owns it.”

As a result, the families of Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Pashupati Shamsher Jabara and royalist leader Dr. Dhwal Shamsher Jabara are set to inherit property valued at over NPR 100 billion.

The division includes the grand Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior, luxurious residences on Delhi’s Safdarjung Road, flats in Mumbai, and estates stretching from Pune to Ujjain.

Nepal’s connection comes through Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia’s daughters: Usha Raje, wife of Pashupati Shamsher, and Pratima, daughter of the late Padma Raje and wife of Dhwal Shamsher. Both will receive their respective shares, significantly boosting the wealth of these Rana families, who were already affluent.
