Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal Deepens Political Crisis

Pressadda

Kathmandu: Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal Make Political tensions between Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk have intensified following a leadership dispute at the country’s Constitutional Tribunal. The controversy erupted after reports emerged that the court’s president and vice-president had been suspended for one month. Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska was appointed to temporarily assume their responsibilities.

Opposition supporters took to the streets to protest the move, leading to clashes with police. President Nawrocki described the development as interference in the constitutional order and called for immediate talks among political parties. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Tusk accused the president and opposition parties of attempting to undermine the rule of law, reaffirming his commitment to allowing the court to function independently.

The dispute is expected to further intensify tensions over judicial independence, political stability and the ruling coalition in Poland.
