
Kathmandu — The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has released a special bulletin urging precautions against hot days and heat waves (loo). For the next three days, maximum temperatures in parts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to reach 38°C or higher, with some areas possibly exceeding 40°C.
Meteorologist Sanjiv Adhikari stated that moderate heat waves are likely in the Terai and hot days in the hill regions, urging people to take necessary precautions.
Affected districts: Kanchanpur, Kailali, Doti, Bardiya, Banke, and Dang. Additional monitoring is advised in Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Achham, Surkhet, Salyan, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, and Kapilvastu.
Possible health impacts: fatigue, weakness, excessive thirst, headache, swollen feet, dizziness, fainting, muscle pain, and vomiting.
Safety advice:
- Stay indoors or in cool places during peak heat
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Wear light cotton clothing and cover your head outdoors
- Drink plenty of water and fluids (juice, sherbet) regularly
- Consult health workers if symptoms appear
The department also urged the public to follow daily weather bulletins for updated information.
