Kathmandu—Senior Gynecologist Dr. Bhola Rijal explains that having the same blood group between husband and wife is not a problem in itself. However, it can become serious if their Rh factors are different.

For instance, if the husband’s blood group is A Positive (A+) and the wife’s is A Negative (A−), they share the same group (A) but have opposite Rh factors. This difference can cause complications during pregnancy.

Usually, there are no issues with the first pregnancy, but if the first baby is lost or there’s a miscarriage, the second pregnancy can face severe risks. In such cases, Dr. Rijal advises couples to consult a doctor early and take proper preventive care.

Before delivery, the mother should receive an Anti-D Salt injection within 72 hours, which helps ensure a safe pregnancy and normal delivery.

If you have similar concerns, it’s always best to seek medical advice before planning a baby.
