Kathmandu—CPN-UML Central Committee member Pasang Sherpa has been arrested in connection with a polygamy case, according to SSP Ramesh Thapa, chief of the Kathmandu Police Complex.

Sherpa was taken into custody on Tuesday from Dhumbarahi.
The Kathmandu District Court had sentenced him to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 5,000 on Chaitra 23, 2079. Although Sherpa appealed to the Patan High Court, the court upheld the lower court’s verdict.
Sherpa, known for his involvement in indigenous and ethnic movements, hails from Mikwakhola-5, Taplejung.
