A writ petition had been filed claiming that the government’s decision to recall the ambassadors was unlawful. During the preliminary hearing, the bench of Justice Binod Sharma issued a show cause order to the government, demanding clarification on the matter.
The court stated that it would decide on the interim order only after further discussion and directed both parties to appear before the court on Friday (Kartik 14).
The current government had instructed ambassadors appointed during former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s tenure to return by Kartik 20. The recall order includes ambassadors from China, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan.
