KATHMANDU: A Qatar Airways aircraft arriving from Doha, Qatar, experienced an overshoot incident upon landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 7:12 AM this morning.

According to airport officials, the Qatar Airways plane overshot its designated landing area due to what is termed as ‘unstable approaches.’

“The aircraft overshot its designated landing area, at times failing to maintain the proper ‘approach profile,’ even when approaching from a higher altitude,” stated a TIA source.

The source added that aircraft involved in such overshoot incidents typically make a complete round before attempting to land again, a process that usually takes around 20 minutes. When arriving at Kathmandu airport, international flights typically execute their approach from the skies above Simara. RSS
