Kathmandu—The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order on the UML’s petition challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut and a five-judge bench directed the party to submit a written response within seven days.

The court also ordered that this petition be considered alongside other pending petitions challenging the dissolution. Although UML requested an interim order, the Supreme Court did not grant it.
The petition was filed by UML’s former parliamentary chief whip Mahesh Bartola and whip Sunita Baral, demanding the reinstatement of the House. The dissolution was carried out by President Ram Chandra Paudel on 27 Bhadra, following a recommendation from Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
