Kathmandu — The Nepal national cricket team is set to face Oman today in the third match of the ICC Asia-Pacific Regional Final Super Six. If Nepal wins this match, it will secure a spot in the T20 World Cup for the third time. Nepal previously participated in the T20 World Cup in 2014 and again in 2024.
Currently ranked second in the points table, Nepal will play against host team Oman at Al Amerat on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:45 PM Nepali time. Oman, sitting at the top of the table with 6 points and a better net run rate than Nepal, will also aim to confirm its World Cup qualification with a win.
So far, Nepal has won its first two Super Six matches — by 1 run against UAE and by 5 runs against Qatar. After facing Oman, Nepal will play its final Super Six match against Samoa.
Head-to-Head Record
In T20 international cricket, Nepal and Oman have faced each other eight times. Nepal has won five of those matches, while Oman has won three — one of which was decided in a Super Over.
Nepal first played Oman in a T20I on October 10, 2019, at Al Amerat, winning by 6 wickets. Their most recent encounter was on October 2, 2024, where Nepal defeated Oman by 56 runs. At today’s venue, Al Amerat, the two teams have played four T20Is. Nepal has dominated here as well, winning three matches while Oman has won just one.
Nepal Ahead in ICC Rankings
In the ICC T20 rankings, Nepal is also ahead of Oman. As of Tuesday, Nepal climbed one spot to reach 17th place, while Oman is ranked 20th. Nepal enters this match with both statistical and psychological advantage — but cricket always has surprises!
