Kathmandu — The National Security Council has recommended deploying the Nepal Army for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
Thursday’s meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, concluded that military deployment is necessary to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free election as per Article 266(1) of the Constitution, according to a statement issued by Secretary Suman Raj Aryal.

The council also reviewed national security challenges, recent domestic and international developments, and their potential impact, along with future strategic responses.
Additionally, the draft of the council’s 8th annual report for fiscal year 2081/82 was approved with amendments and will be submitted to the President under Article 266(3).
