According to the decision made during Wednesday’s meeting of the party’s Central Secretariat, chaired by party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, the leaders were expelled for engaging in activities against the party’s interests. The decision was made under Article 121(2) of the party statute, as authorized by the third meeting of the Central Committee.

Along with Bhusal and Jhakri, Damodar Aryal, Nandalal Banjade, Dharamraj Niraula, and Krishna Kumar Shrestha (Kisan) have also been expelled from the party, losing even their basic membership.

The party has also warned that any individual using the party’s name or position to hold gatherings, meetings, press conferences, or any kind of activity will face further action.

This decision comes just a day after ten leftist parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN (Unified Socialist), officially announced the formation of the Nepali Communist Party. The expelled leaders had opposed the unity process, stating that such a merger was not appropriate at this time.
