The hotel was damaged during the Gen Z protest on 24 Bhadra and has been closed due to safety concerns and the risks involved in repair and reconstruction. Mohammad Yusuf Yamin, HR Director at Hyatt Regency, issued the notice highlighting these reasons.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki expressed concern over the temporary closure on Saturday. At her request, Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal met with the hotel management team and assured government support.

According to management sources, attackers had entered the hotel premises and caused significant damage, especially to the casino. Following the incident, bookings were canceled, making it impossible to operate the hotel temporarily.
Design work for reconstruction has already started. Importing foreign materials and completing insurance and bank procedures are expected to take time, which is why staff have been asked to stay away from the premises.
The government has committed to supporting the business. Finance Minister Khanal encouraged staff and management, saying, “Do not worry. The government is with you, and any assistance needed will be provided.”
While reconstruction will take time, both the government and hotel management are actively working to resume operations.
