New Delhi — A horrific incident shook the Nabi Karim area of Delhi on Saturday night as a dispute over paternity of an unborn child ended in murder. Shalini, a pregnant woman, and her former live-in partner, Ashu (aka Shailendra), were fatally stabbed during a violent confrontation.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:15 PM. Shalini had gone with her husband Akash to meet her mother-in-law at her father-in-law’s residence. Ashu arrived at the house and attempted to attack Akash with a knife. Akash escaped but intervened when he saw Ashu attacking Shalini. A violent struggle ensued between the two men with knives.
Both Shalini and Ashu died at the scene, while Akash sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Lok Nayak Hospital.
Shalini’s mother explained that Shalini had two children with Akash. After marital issues, Shalini had stayed with Ashu as a live-in partner, but recently reconciled with her husband. Ashu became furious, claiming that the unborn child was his, which ultimately triggered the deadly confrontation.
Police have registered a case under the Murder and Arms Act and are investigating the incident.
