Sunar faces allegations of contempt of court and using abusive language against a lawyer in a case related to electronic transactions. He appeared at the court on Thursday.

Senior advocate Yadunath Khanal and other lawyers, including Mahendra Tamang, Chakraman Bishwakarma, Balmiki Aauji, Narayan Budhaprithi, Ganesh Baraili, and Ram Bahadur Mijar, argued on behalf of Sunar.

The government’s side was represented by Assistant Attorney Nishta Karmacharya.

The case stems from Sunar allegedly posting offensive remarks and live-streaming abusive comments against lawyer Manisha Gautam on Facebook. As Gautam’s permanent address is in Kavrepalanchok, the Cyber Bureau forwarded the case to the District Police Office in Kavrepalanchok.

Sunar had remained absconding, and the police filed the case in court on Shrawan 2. Later, a warrant for his arrest was issued on Shrawan 5.

Sunar’s name had been recommended during the recent cabinet expansion, but was removed at the last minute due to this case.
