Dharan—Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Sampang has clarified the viral video in which a woman is seen kissing him, saying the incident occurred during a public event, not in a private setting.

In a video statement, Sampang said he also felt uncomfortable at the time but emphasized that the act should not be viewed negatively. “Some people with ill intent are spreading false rumors using that photo. The woman came to meet me with the help of a stick because she had a fractured leg and had waited for hours,” he explained.
He added that the woman was one of his strong supporters and that her gesture was simply an expression of affection. “Please don’t misinterpret it. It happened in front of about 100 people during a public program,” he said.
Sampang urged critics to show sensitivity toward the woman’s condition and discouraged spreading misinformation about the incident.
