Mohan Vikram Singh, General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Masal), expressed serious dissatisfaction with the current government’s functioning and foreign policy, warning that it could have negative implications for national interest. Presenting his perspective paper at a program organized by the Rastriya Janamorcha in Kathmandu on the topic “Election Assessment and Nepal’s Foreign Policy,” he claimed that foreign powers are increasingly influencing government formation and the current political developments.
According to him, even the spontaneous movements initiated by youth against corruption and social media control have been exploited by foreign powers for their own interests, with particular strategic influence from the United States, he analyzed.
General Secretary Singh alleged that through agreements such as MCC and SPP, attempts are being made to involve Nepal in strategic operations against China. He highlighted the growing risk of Nepalese territory being used for activities related to Tibet and expressed concern over the possibility of the country becoming a center for foreign military strategy.
Regarding neighboring relations, he accused the government of remaining silent on India’s border encroachments, particularly in the Kalapani region. He also criticized the government for lacking effective diplomatic initiatives when China ignored Nepal’s new map.
Emphasizing the growing global power competition and the risk of war, he stressed that Nepal’s adoption of a non-aligned foreign policy is the most appropriate choice. As a landlocked nation, Nepal must maintain balanced relations with neighboring countries, he noted, expressing doubts about the current government’s ability to effectively safeguard national sovereignty.
In conclusion, he urged all patriotic forces to unite to protect national interests, support world peace, and raise their voices against foreign interference.
