On the day of the threats, Nath was found set on fire, rescued, and taken to Kathmandu Medical College for treatment. She passed away two days later on 11 Ashoj.

Investigation revealed that Nath herself had set herself on fire, which prompted the police to file the abetment to suicide charges against the accused.
