According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communication, and Law, the decision was made as devotees offer prayers to the rising sun on the final day of Chhath, marking the festival’s conclusion.

A notice issued by Undersecretary Ganesh Nayak stated that the provincial gazette published on Chaitra 22, 2081, had already mentioned provisions for an additional holiday during Chhath. Accordingly, Kartik 11 has been declared a public holiday across the province.

The federal government had earlier declared a nationwide public holiday on Kartik 10 (Monday) for offering prayers to the setting sun.
