Kathmandu — Muskan Khatun, a women’s rights activist and survivor of an acid attack, has been appointed a central member of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
The announcement was made on Thursday at the party unity program in the National Assembly Hall by NCP coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Khatun, who survived an acid attack at the age of 15, received the 2021 International Women of Courage Award at age 21.
Speaking at the event, she emphasized that acid attacks are not the only form of violence, urging action against all forms of violence faced by women. She expressed confidence that the NCP would work to end corruption and violence in the country.
