Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. A video circulating on social media claiming that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about merging Nepal into the concept of “Akhand Bharat” has been confirmed to be a manipulated deepfake.
Fact-checking shows that the clip was created by altering footage from a recent technology-related event where Modi delivered a speech. Parts of the original video were edited and additional audio was inserted to make it appear as if he made statements that were never actually spoken.
Although the viral video suggests that there is a plan to incorporate Nepal into India, no such remark was present in the authentic speech. The visuals and voice were digitally altered using advanced technology, making the content misleading.
Experts have urged the public to remain cautious about such content spreading on social media and to verify information before sharing it further.
