Weather Could Become Even More Severe

Pressadda

Kathmandu: Meteorologists have said that a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal is increasingly likely to intensify into a powerful cyclonic system. Its effects could bring rainfall to various parts of Nepal and snowfall in Himalayan regions for five days, from Wednesday, Kartik 11, to Kartik 15.

Meteorologists have advised the public to take precautions against potential weather-related risks during this period. They have recommended avoiding harvesting ripe paddy crops, trekking in high Himalayan regions, and undertaking long-distance journeys along hilly highways.

Meteorologist Ujjwal Upadhyay said in a Facebook post that further details about the system and its potential impact on Nepal are expected to become clearer by this afternoon.

Meteorologists have urged farmers to harvest their crops promptly, depending on weather conditions, and arrange for safe storage. They have also advised trekkers in high Himalayan and hilly regions to exercise extra caution due to the possibility of adverse weather.

Particular caution has been recommended for travelers using the Prithvi Highway and BP Highway from Wednesday through Sunday.
