Bhotekoshi Flood: Principal’s Quick Decision Saves 1,643 Children as School Is Swept Away

A Nepalese school principal’s quick decision helped save 1,643 children when a devastating flash flood suddenly threatened their school in the Trishuli Valley.

After receiving a warning that the river was rising rapidly, Rajendra Dawadi ordered teachers to evacuate the classrooms and sent the students toward safer ground.

The children eventually found shelter under a bodhi tree as floodwaters swept away the school buildings. Dawadi was praised by locals for his actions, but he said, ‘What else could I do?’
