
Kathmandu. On Thursday, the value of the US dollar and several other foreign currencies fell, signaling renewed investor interest in gold in major stock markets worldwide.
Gold prices surged, climbing by USD 133.40 in 24 hours to reach USD 4,691.59 per ounce. Silver also rose by USD 4.17, trading at USD 77.27 per ounce.
According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the buying rate of the US dollar stood at Rs. 151.08 and the selling rate at Rs. 151.68, down from Wednesday’s Rs. 152.16 and Rs. 152.76 respectively.
The euro strengthened, with a buying rate of Rs. 178.05 and selling rate of Rs. 178.75, compared to Rs. 177.92 and Rs. 178.62 earlier.
Meanwhile, the pound sterling slipped slightly, with Thursday’s buying rate at Rs. 206.04 and selling rate at Rs. 206.86, compared to Rs. 206.11 and Rs. 206.92 previously.
