Kathmandu. Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record in world football. Ronaldo became the first player to play the most 200 international matches for the national football team. With the match against Iceland in the 2024 Euro Cup qualifiers, Ronaldo completed the number of 200 international matches in football history.

38-year-old Ronaldo also scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Ireland. With the win, Portugal topped Group J of the EuroCup qualifiers. Portugal has won four games in a row in the qualifiers.

Ronaldo, who has completed 200 international matches for Portugal, has scored 123 international goals. He has also increased the number of international goals. Which in itself is a world record. Ronaldo is currently playing professional football for Al Nasser Club in Saudi Arabia. This season alone he joined Al Nasser for a record fee. Last March, Ronaldo broke the record of 196 games played by Kuwaiti striker Bader Al.

Ronaldo said he was surprised after setting another record in football. “Looking at this record, I am surprised,” Ronaldo said after the game, “I am even more happy to score the winning goal.”
