Charlotte (USA) — An Indian-origin teacher assistant in North Carolina has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband during an argument over house cleaning. The incident occurred on October 12, 2025, in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 44-year-old Chandraprabha Singh attacked her husband, Arvind Singh, after an argument escalated because he had not cleaned the house. However, she told investigators that the stabbing was accidental, claiming she was cooking breakfast and unintentionally cut his neck as she turned during the argument.

Arvind Singh was hospitalized with a serious but non-life-threatening neck injury. Chandraprabha Singh was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, a felony under North Carolina law. After initially being denied bail, she was later released on a $10,000 bond with conditions requiring electronic monitoring and no contact with her husband.

Singh, who works as a teacher assistant at Endhaven Elementary School under the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
