Kathmandu – The scheduled visit of Ministers Kulman Ghising and Om Prakash Aryal to Ilam today has been postponed. They were preparing to leave at 11 a.m. to observe the areas most affected by recent disasters. The plan was to fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, Jhapa via a regular flight, and then take a helicopter from Bhadrapur to Ilam.
A source from the Ministry of Home Affairs stated, “The plan was to depart from Kathmandu at 11 a.m. for Ilam. If tickets were available earlier, they would have left sooner, but since they couldn’t get tickets, the visit was canceled.”
An official from the ministry mentioned that a new plan will be made soon to visit Ilam, carrying relief materials.
The devastating rainfall on Ashwin 18 (October 5) has already claimed 37 lives in Ilam. Many people are injured or missing. Roads, bridges, hydropower projects, and other physical infrastructure have been severely damaged.
