Kathmandu—The nights of Nepalgunj remain vibrant long after the daytime crowd disperses. Many illicit activities continue in the bus park area beyond the reach of law enforcement. SP Angur Jishi, head of the District Police Office in Banke, took a bold step to understand this reality.
Dressed in plain clothes, SP Jishi conducts night patrols, sometimes posing as a passenger in vehicles or walking the streets. During a recent undercover operation, he raided four major hotels—Milan Cottage, Bheri Karnali Hotel, Riverside, and Dangali Hotel—detaining 45 individuals, including 31 women and 14 men, with eight being Indian nationals.

Following these operations, police sources report a significant reduction in criminal activities in the bus park area. Night mobile patrolling has increased after 9 PM, and hotel operators now require identification of customers.
According to Police Spokesperson DSP Deepak Patali, the campaign sends a strong message that the police are present. Active monitoring and cooperation with local communities aim to prevent theft, fraud, drug trafficking, and physical assaults, reinforcing law and order in Nepalgunj.
