Kathmandu. Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has been sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel at a special ceremony held at Shital Niwas. She now makes history as Nepal’s first female Prime Minister.
Appointed under the pressure of the recent Gen-Z movement, PM Karki has recommended the dissolution of the House of Representatives with two and a half years of tenure remaining. The newly formed cabinet took the historic step of dissolving the elected parliament in its first meeting.
The President has tasked Karki with holding fresh parliamentary elections within the next six months, meaning a new mandate must be secured by the month of Falgun.
