Kathmandu — Prime Minister Sushila Karki is preparing to expand her cabinet by including representatives from the Gen Z movement. According to sources close to the Prime Minister’s Office, four new ministers are expected to be appointed and sworn in by Monday.
Those chosen to represent the Gen Z movement in the new cabinet are Ganpatilal Shrestha, Bablu Gupta, Ramji Ram, and Tasi Lhajom. Shrestha is set to lead the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Gupta the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ram the Ministry of Health and Population; and Lhajom, the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.

Shrestha is a heritage preservation activist, Gupta gained recognition for free meal campaigns and the “Clothes Bank” initiative during COVID-19, Ram is the first doctor from the Chamar community in Rautahat, and Lhajom, from Humla, has been advocating on climate change and women’s issues.
A source close to the Prime Minister said discussions are still ongoing regarding Lhajom’s appointment. The government is also preparing to induct other Gen Z activists into the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Prime Minister Karki, appointed on 27th Bhadra, currently heads an eight-member interim cabinet and this expansion marks her third since taking office.
