Kathmandu-Kulman Ghising, the newly appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources, Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure, and Urban Development, assumed office on Monday after taking the oath before President Ramchandra Paudel. His first directive was to immediately recover outstanding dues from dedicated and trunkline services.

The former head of the Nepal Electricity Authority pledged to establish a reconstruction fund and mobilize support from citizens at home and abroad. He also expressed solidarity with injured protesters during the ongoing Gen Z movement, vowing to address their demands meaningfully.

Ghising said the interim government must steer the country toward stability, prosperity, and timely elections. He further promised to push forward the “Bright Nepal Campaign” more effectively while paying tribute to those who lost their lives in democratic struggles, including the recent Gen Z protests.
