Kathmandu — The Supreme Court has ordered Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Yadav to seek a confidence vote within 24 hours. The directive followed a petition by 73 lawmakers, who claimed his appointment was unconstitutional.

CM Yadav must now submit the confidence vote proposal in the provincial assembly. If he secures the vote, he will continue as Chief Minister; if not, the court has instructed alternative measures.
The order also directs the provincial head to initiate a joint government formation process in accordance with Article 168, Clause 2 of the Constitution.
