The student was sent back after failing to renew college enrollment and working illegally, while the visitor visa holder was deported for starting unauthorized employment. The remaining 33 had paid up to Rs 8 million each to reach the U.S. through risky underground routes. After nearly two years of traveling through multiple countries, they were finally deported.

Most of the deportees are from the Rukum–Dang region, and none have filed formal complaints. Since Donald Trump adopted a strict immigration policy, over 200 Nepalis have been deported from the U.S.
