Kathmandu—Nepal made a winning start in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifier underway in Oman.
In their opening match held on Wednesday night, Nepal defeated Kuwait by 58 runs to begin their campaign on a high note.
Chasing a target of 142 runs, Kuwait were bowled out for 83 runs in 18.1 overs. For Kuwait, Clinto Anto scored 26 runs, while Yasin Patel added 19.

For Nepal, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Rohit Paudel took two wickets each, while Kushal Bhurtel, Sompal Kami, and Nandan Yadav grabbed one wicket apiece.
Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal posted 141/7 in 20 overs, thanks to opener Kushal Bhurtel’s half-century knock of 66 runs off 56 balls, including three fours and three sixes.
Dipendra Singh Airee scored 20 before being run out, and Gulsan Jha smashed an explosive 20 off 6 balls, hitting three consecutive sixes in the final over.
For Kuwait, Anudeep Chenathamara took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, and Naveen Raj bagged 2 for 40. Mohammad Aslam and Akif Farooq claimed one wicket each.
With this victory, Nepal has secured their place in the Super Six stage. They will next face Japan on Friday.
