Butwal – Tilottama Municipality in Rupandehi has dismissed Sanju Paudel, a newly appointed computer operator, for preparing unauthorized documents to attend the Asia Smart City Conference 2025 in Japan.
The decision was made during a meeting at the mayor’s level on Wednesday, following an internal investigation that confirmed the misuse of official documents.
Paudel had been recommended for the conference along with Keshav Bhattarai from the Health Division and Sita Bhandari Bhusal from the Planning Division. Questions arose about Paudel’s recommendation, prompting the municipality to investigate the matter.
According to Mayor Ramkrishna Khan, the investigation revealed that Paudel used official documents without approval or coordination, leading to his immediate dismissal effective 26 Kartik.
Chief Administrative Officer Khumlal Bhusal stated that the travel of all three employees was canceled on 23 Kartik, and the municipality received confirmation of the cancellation from the organizers on 24 Kartik.
