Surkhet—A man has been arrested for attempting to commit misconduct in a Raute settlement at midnight.
According to police, Rajju Rajali, a resident of Lekbeshi–5, Neta, entered the Raute camp near Chaurase in Lekbeshi Municipality–9 around midnight on Friday and allegedly tried to assault a Raute woman.

Rajali, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, entered a hut where a Raute woman was alone. Raute youths apprehended him and handed him over to the police after the woman accused him of attempting to force himself on her, said Durga Khatri, an employee working with the Raute community.
Following the report, police reached the site on Saturday morning and took Rajali into custody, confirmed DSP Monjang Budhathoki of the District Police Office, Surkhet. He added that further investigation is underway.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) have also shown concern over the incident and sent teams to the Raute settlement for further inquiry.
