Kathmandu — A major scandal has hit Nepal Airlines after crew member Sandesh Tiwari was arrested in Doha for allegedly smuggling eight tolas of gold. Doha police took him into custody following a customs inspection.

Following his arrest, Tiwari has reportedly been suspended for three months. The incident occurred on November 29 during flight RA 240, which was scheduled to depart for Kathmandu. The flight was delayed by around 35 minutes after gold was found on him.

Krishna Bajgain, Nepal Airlines’ Doha station manager, confirmed the incident. However, spokesperson Archana Khadka said she had not received any official information and could not comment.
