Kathmandu—Prime Minister Sushila Karki is struggling to finalize her interim cabinet. Senior cardiologist Dr. Bhagwan Koirala declined the health minister position, while journalist Jagadish Kharel is set to become Minister for Information and Communication Technology.

A week after its formation, the interim government still lacks a full cabinet. So far, Rameshwor Khanal (Finance), Kulman Ghising (Energy and Infrastructure), and Om Prakash Aryal (Home and Law) have been appointed.

Karki has also approached Dr. Mahabir Pun to lead the Education, Science, and Technology portfolio, although he prefers a separate Science and Technology portfolio. Meanwhile, Gen Z activists have pushed names like Raksha Bam and Bablu Gupta for ministerial roles.

To strengthen her office, Karki is preparing to appoint journalists Ajayabhadra Khanel and Govinda Narayan Timilsina as advisors.
