Kathmandu—Hyatt Regency Kathmandu has terminated all 133 employees, citing renovation work and financial constraints following damages during the Gen Z protest on Bhadra 23 and 24.
In a notice issued late Tuesday, General Manager Ashish Kumar announced that the layoffs would take effect from Mangsir 22, in accordance with Nepal’s Labor Act 2074.
The hotel stated that it has already started repair and maintenance work and is currently unable to operate or employ staff. It further mentioned that discussions with the active trade unions failed to reach any conclusion, leading to the workforce reduction decision.

According to the management, the decision aims to secure financial resources for renovation and sustain operations once the hotel reopens.
