Kathmandu. The Cabinet has appointed Hitendra Shakya, former Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), to a specialized expert-level position at the Energy Commission. Shakya served 184 days as NEA Executive Director and will now receive a monthly salary and benefits totaling NPR 294,920 at the Commission.

Former NEA Executive Director Manoj Silwal has been appointed to replace him. Shakya, an experienced engineer and specialist in electricity transmission, initially challenged his transfer in court but currently appears willing to accept the new role at the Energy Commission.

Commenting on his transfer, Shakya said, “If the government has sincerely assigned me to the Energy Commission, I am ready to cooperate. I have not made any decision yet regarding pursuing legal action.”
