Kathmandu— The government has formed a high-level judicial commission chaired by former Chief Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the events of Bhadra 23–24.
The cabinet meeting on Sunday appointed former Nepal Police AIG Vijyanraj Sharma and legal expert Vishweshwar Prasad Bhandari as members. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal stated that the commission’s tenure will be three months.

Additionally, AIG Dr. Manoj Kumar KC has been transferred as chief of Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
To rebuild properties damaged during the Gen Z movement, the government announced a customs exemption of up to 50% on imported reconstruction materials. Relief programs by Nepal Rastra Bank and insurance companies will help affected industries, businesses, and economic activities resume operations immediately.
Insurance authorities have directed companies to provide up to 50% of the estimated damage in advance.
Vehicles and machinery damaged during the movement will be auctioned as scrap. Committees at central and district levels will oversee these processes, including damage assessment.
