Kathmandu — Police have confirmed that Tenzing Dawa Lama, the commander of the ‘TOB’ group involved in the recent Gen Z protest, has an ordinary financial status despite being jailed in cases related to citizenship, passport, legal documents, and narcotics. SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police stated that Tenzing’s lifestyle appears normal.

Until 2007, Tenzing was raised by his step grandaunt, Kunga Dolma. In 2017, he opened the ‘TOB Tattoo House’ in Boudha, with an initial investment of NPR 40,000 from Dolma. The earnings from this shop supported his daily life, and for the past three years, Dolma even covered his rent.

During the Gen Z protests on Bhadra 23–24, Tenzing’s group of 31 members participated with 20 motorcycles, carrying out disruptive activities. Police seized 14 motorcycles during the crackdown.

The TOB (‘Tibetan Original Blood’) group was formed on June 10, 2024, with 57 members. Surendra Gurung ‘Hakim’ is considered the role model for the group. Police investigations show that the group was originally created for social service and recreational purposes.
