Kathmandu—The Kannada film industry is mourning the passing of veteran actor Harish Rai, a celebrated figure in both Sandalwood and Tamil cinema. Known for his powerful portrayals of villains and supporting characters, Rai left an unforgettable mark on Indian regional cinema.

Over a 25-year career, the 55-year-old actor appeared in several acclaimed films, including Jodi Hakki, Operation Antha, Om, Nalla KGF, and the blockbuster KGF franchise. His portrayal of “Chacha” in KGF and KGF Chapter 2 remains one of his most memorable performances, earning him immense praise from audiences.

Reports confirm that Harish Rai had been battling thyroid cancer for several years. Despite his resilience and determination, he succumbed to the illness after a prolonged fight.

Before entering the film industry, Harish Rai was a businessman who owned a jewelry shop in his hometown, according to SS TV. His deep passion for acting led him to pursue a film career in the early 1990s, where he gradually built a reputation as a versatile and reliable performer.

Throughout his decades-long journey, Rai became one of the most respected and dependable character actors in the Kannada film industry, admired for his emotional depth and authentic screen presence.

As per Big TV’s report, Rai is survived by his wife and two sons. Though he preferred to keep his personal life private, his family’s unwavering support played a vital role in his inspiring and enduring cinematic journey.
