This move increases pressure on the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), which has not yet officially decided whether to participate. UML leaders have repeatedly claimed that the current government cannot ensure a secure environment for elections.

The Nepali Congress has also urged other political parties to participate actively. Meanwhile, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has reiterated that elections are impossible under the current security conditions, advising parties not to be misled by temporary political sentiments.

Some UML leaders have clarified that they are not opposed to elections but insist that parliamentary reinstatement is a prerequisite for a stable environment in which to hold polls.
