Kathmandu – The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court against seven individuals, including former ministers Raj Kumar Gupta, Balram Adhikari, and Ranjita Shrestha, in connection with the Pokhara Lichibari land case on Asoj 22.

According to the CIAA, Gupta and Shrestha face a claim of Rs 7.8 million each in illicit gains. Similarly, Ram Chandra Adhikari, Yam Kumari Gurung, Tulsiram Budhamagar, and Khambahadur Pun have been charged with misappropriations of Rs 5.3 million, Rs 2.5 million, Rs 7.8 million, and Rs 2.5 million, respectively.

On Asar 28, 2079 BS, an audio recording surfaced in which then Minister Raj Kumar Gupta was allegedly heard taking Rs 5.3 million in bribes in exchange for transferring the Chief of the Kaski Land Revenue Office and appointing a favorable official. Following the leak, Gupta resigned from his position.

Subsequently, former Land Management Minister Balram Adhikari and former Minister Ranjita Shrestha were also implicated. Reports revealed that Adhikari’s son Manoj received Rs 3.2 million, and his brother’s bank account was credited with Rs 500,000. Similarly, messages sent by Shrestha requesting cash transfers, saying, “Send the driver; I need cash,” were submitted as evidence to the CIAA.

The investigation also found the involvement of former Secretary Arjun Pokharel and several officials from the Kaski Land Revenue Office.
