Lalitpur — Amid the ongoing political uncertainty, the Nepali Congress has officially decided to participate in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4 (Falgun 21). A Central Working Committee meeting chaired by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka on Saturday endorsed a five-point decision, concluding that elections are the only democratic way out of the current crisis.

Addressing the violent incidents during the Gen Z youth protests in August, the dissolution of Parliament, and the formation of an interim government, the party stated that protecting the constitution and institutionalizing the legitimate concerns raised by the movement require going to the polls.

The meeting also assigned the party’s chief secretary the responsibility of registering the party for the National Assembly election on January 25 (Magh 11) and the upcoming House of Representatives election.
